Supervisor, Credit Risk Management – Shinhan Bank Canada, Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Job Description

 

As an independent officer of the second line of defense, the Risk Management department, you will work with Loan Review Officer (LRO) and report to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) with regards to Shinhan Bank Canada’s overall credit risk management function within the organization. Some of the key tasks include:

 
  • Review the design and operating effectiveness of the Bank’s credit governance, policies and procedures.

  • Communicate with the Credit department to close any gaps as well as enhancing credit-related system(s)

  • Review new lending product development in accordance with industry standards and OSFI guidelines

  • Perform overall credit risk management of the bank, which is but not limited to loan portfolio monitoring, establishment of credit and concentration risk limit, and scenario testing

  • Review credit rating model and activities.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to the LRO in performing duties

  • Provide assistance and consultation to credit analysts, underwriters, loan officers, auditors, and regulators as required

  • Support the CRO’s and other risk officers’ roles as needed

  • Participate in other projects on an ad hoc basis

 

Job Requirements

 
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian lending practices, laws, and regulations

  • At least 3 years of experience in retail and small business lending and underwriter positions at Canadian banks

  • At least 3 years of experience in credit risk analyst, credit policy analyst, or portfolio management positions

  • Proven leadership experience in a team environment for projects and/or day to day activities

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present new findings and responding to questions from internal and external business partners

  • Strong integrity in all areas such as adhering to policies and regulations, maintaining utmost ethical and legal standards, and upholding confidentiality and privacy of findings in all situations

  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects while remain flexible to unpredictable changes to schedule and deadlines

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or risk management-related field

  • CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) designation is considered an asset
