We are currently looking for an Internal Audit Manager who will report to the Chief Internal Auditor and be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on operational, regulatory and other internal audits. The successful candidate will conduct internal audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the business operations, including established internal controls and procedures. The successful candidate will perform audit procedures, including documenting processes and procedures, reviewing and analyzing evidence, identifying and defining issues. This position provides the opportunity to grow and develop in a multi-national environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA) in the development and coordination of the bank’s internal audit activities, including an annual audit plan based on risk assessment
  • Conduct internal audits in branches and Head Office including establishing or enhancing audit program as necessary
  • Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to various parties, including auditees
  • Follow up with management remedial action plans
  • Report on audit activities and issues directly to CIA on a regular basis
  • Conduct selection process of outsourced internal auditor including assessment of their qualification
  • Conduct quality assessment of outsourced audit results
  • Assist Outsourced Internal Auditors and Parent Bank auditors in conducting audits
  • Conduct annual internal QAIP and arrange external QAIP every five (5) years
  • Design and manage banking system (AITHER) audits (Self audits at branches and Head Office), including updates and amendments of audit items
  • Manage and supervise ordinary and self-audit/inspection for branches and Head Office
  • Update and manage changes in the bank’s policies & procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Design and manage training programs for internal auditors
  • Manage the IA related membership and audit tools as required
  • Communicate with the Parent Bank Internal Audit Department
  • Prepare various reports on internal audit activities for Senior Management, CIA, Audit Committee, Board, Regulators, Parent Bank, and other parties
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the CIA

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 years of audit experience, ideally in Canadian financial services
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • Excellent research, investigative and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including well-developed listening and negotiation skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement, with the ability to deal with conflicting points of view and to effect creative and responsive solutions
  • Proven experience in executive-level reporting, with advanced analytics capability
  • Experience in audit methodologies and risk management principles applicable to a financial institution highly valued
  • Strong leadership and management skill to lead a small-sized audit team
  • Experience in training audit staffs
  • Legally able to work in Canada
