IT Advisor

The Information Technology Strategy and Operations Department (IT S&O) at Shinhan Bank Canada (SBC) is responsible for the overall direction and strategy of IT systems used by the Bank and the centralized business operations of Shinhan Bank Canada. The IT S&O must ensure that the IT systems provide a stable environment to the users, ensure the security and safety of all data files, programs, application, equipment and also ensure the efficient and prompt processing of data that Shinhan Bank Canada relies on. The IT Advisor is responsible for administrating and operating IT regular (scheduled) works/ jobs and executing the development and implementation of IT policy and strategic planning. This includes systems maintenances and improvements based on the IT development life cycle or methodology to define requirement, analyze, design, develop test and deploy.

The IT Advisor is also responsible for coordinating and collaborating with related internal/ external stakeholders to business outcomes and maximize system/ service quality.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Supervise IT administration in business systems (core banking system, online banking service and etc.)
  • Coordinate and execute IT strategic projects/ tasks effectively with project stakeholders Define user requirements and document development details for IT maintenance and developments
  • Execute and report user acceptance test to verify process and supporting implementation Monitor and support IT systems operations and troubles
  • Manage and report overall daily batch jobs and It scheduled jobs/ tasks Support system/ service upgrades or updates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience preferred
  • Work experience in IT project, system development or business systems Knowledge of IT development tools/language skills
  • Understanding of technology and business domain knowledge
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Attention to detail and a technical, logical thought process and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and ability to multi-task
  • An ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize (Time Management)
  • Excellent English verbal/written communications skills
  • MS Office
  • Understanding of IT trends and IT development processes, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of IT components/structures (H/W, S/W, N/W and etc.) Risk, compliance and audit mindset
  • Canadian Banking Laws and Regulations
